週四，索羅斯 (George Sorosis）在瑞士達沃斯世界經濟論壇上發表演說，並評論比特幣 (Bitcoin)：

“比特幣不是一種貨幣，因為貨幣需要有一個穩定的價值存儲功能，一天內波動25％的貨幣不能用來支付工資，因為一天工資便可能下降25％。比特幣只是基於人們的誤解的投機工具 “。

然而，索羅斯認為區塊鏈(Blockchain) 是一種創新的技術，可以積極利用。 “舉個例子，區塊鏈可以幫助新移民與家人解決跨國匯款的問題，令他們可以安全地隨身攜帶貨幣。”
