美國密歇根大學13日公佈的消費者信心調查顯示，7月初消費者信心指數從6月份的98.2下滑至97.1，但仍低於前12個月（97.7）的平均水平。

負責這項調查的經濟學家理查德·柯廷 (Richard Curtin) 表示，美國消費者對特朗普政府的關稅舉措感到憂慮，擔心對進口產品加征關稅將造成美國經濟增速下降和通脹水平上升。該調查顯示，擔心關稅政策對美國經濟造成負面影響的消費者比例從5月的15%升至7月的38%。其中，收入水平處於美國前三分之一的消費者尤其感到憂慮，而這部分群體貢獻了美國一半的消費支出。

45歲以下消費者預計收入將大幅增加

然而，由於對就業和收入前景樂觀，45歲以下的消費者預期他們的收入將增加，是2000年7月以來最大的預期增幅。就業和收入的優勢已經克服了通脹和利率的上升。 這一群體中的消費者仍然充滿信心，他們中的大多數人認為他們的經濟狀況將在未來12個月內變得更好。
